Canning Heroes
A downloadable game for Windows
Canning Heroes is a family-friendly cooperative game for 1-4 players. The game is meant to be played on a horizontally-mounted multitouch screen in a museum setting. The game was designed specifically for the kitchen at the recently-renovated Oakhurst Home at Minnetrista, a museum and community gathering place in Muncie, Indiana.
The target hardware for this installation is a 1080p display. The player experience may degrade on other resolutions.
Canning Heroes was developed by Happy Accident Studio. This student team at Ball State University includes Jawad Al-Mamoon, Lauren Binnewies, Chris Bucker, Gabrielle Hogan, Makayla Hughes, Lindsey Murphy, Nick Murphy, Austin Tinkel, Eli Sokeland, Tanner Stanley, Hunter Wallace, and Julie Xiao, working under the supervision of faculty mentor Paul Gestwicki. Special thanks to the Department of Computer Science, the Office of Immersive Learning, and George Buss, Director of Experience and Education at Minnetrista.
This game is the product of an immersive learning class at Ball State University who worked in collaboration with Minnetrista. Immersive learning brings multidisciplinary teams of college students together with community partners to solve interesting problems.
